Mälardalen University College (Swedish: Mälardalens högskola), or MDH, is a university college (högskola) located in Västerås and Eskilstuna, Sweden.[2] It has 13,000 students and over 1,000 employees, of which around 40 are professors. Mälardalen University College is the world's first environmentally certified school according to the international standard ISO 14001.

As of 1 April 2011, Karin Röding is Mälardalen University’s new vice-chancellor. From this position, she is leading the University’s operations. She has also become a member of the University Board. Karin was born in Malmö in 1955 but has lived in Stockholm since 1976. She is very interested in, and curious about, international affairs in general and social issues in particular.
Karin Röding has a master of political science and is a medical doctor as well as a registered dentist. Among other things, she has previously been the Head of the Division for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Research, as well as the University Director of Uppsala University. Her latest position was that of University Director at Karolinska Institutet.
In addition to her new job as vice-chancellor, Karin has a number of other assignments. During the past few years, she has, among other things, become a trusted member of the boards of Halmstad University and Södertörn University. Since 2007, she has been an external member of the Danish Accreditation Council, and since 2009, she is also a board member of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim.
